Leo Dohmen

Leo "Opa" Dohmen, age 82, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Leo was born and raised in the Netherlands, where he met and was united in marriage to his beloved Mary. They moved to America in January 1957 where they raised their family. Opa was a successful businessman. He started his own commercial and residential painting business and expanded into tile and flooring; which he owned and operated until his death. In his spare time he enjoyed watching soccer and football, working puzzles and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary on August 15, 2014; six brothers. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him including his sons, Cornelius (Leilani), Joseph (Rachel), John (fiancée Teri); grandchildren, Rachel (DJ) Frank, Megan (fiancé Nick Willcoxen) Dohmen, Nicole Dohmen, Brett Dohmen, Stuart Dohmen; great-grandchild, Lyric Frank; brother, Clem (Lia) Dohmen; special niece, Ann Marie (Steve) Johnson; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
