Leo Lunzer, 89, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024. Born in Forest Lake on March 16, 1935, to Martin and Francis (nee Schmidt) Lunzer. Leo lived a life filled with passion for various interests and hobbies. In his younger days, Leo was an active member of the Forest Lake Waterski Club and a dedicated snowmobile racer and rider. His true love was snowmobiling, a hobby he continued to enjoy well into his later years.
Apart from his adventurous spirit, Leo was also a talented landscape designer, creating unique residential landscapes through his local business. He was a family man at heart, cherishing his dear friends and loved ones. Leo was known for his quick wit, jokes and stories that never failed to bring a smile to those around him.
On Saturday night, Leo could be found playing his banjo and harmonica, serenading anyone who would join in. At home, he found solace in his gardening, cooking delicious meals and working on various projects in his garage. Leo’s love for life and his hobbies brought joy to all who knew him.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine, his children Leo, Erich, Dan, Lucy (Geoff), Laura and Jon as well as his grandchildren, Dakota, Noah (Annie), Damon, Evan, Luna, Reece and Liam. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
May Leo’s adventurous spirit and zest for life inspire us all to embrace our passions and cherish our loved ones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation one hour prior to mass at the church. Private Family interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
