Leonard Michael Martinez

Leonard Michael Martinez, born September 7, 1959, passed from this earthly life on April 9, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Stella, and countless beautiful souls.

Devoted husband of Phyllis, adoring father of Julia and loving brother of Rachel, her husband Jerry and their children Eric, Stella, and Evan. Aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and friends complete his wide circle of love.

Len is remembered as a trusted leader and patient mentor who knew that kindness makes one strong. 

While Chicago lived in his heart, Minnesota captured his soul. Cycling in all four seasons grounded him; his community has lost a great man. Snowshoeing, kayaking, road trips and wandering were all captured with an artist’s eye. Len’s photography can bring us peace.

Music flowed through Len’s life as effortlessly as air. A great meal and a bit of Irish whiskey would round out a perfect day. Home was his sanctuary.

Len was a 1981 graduate of the University of Illinois School of Art and Design and had a fulfilling career as a Creative Director.
