On the afternoon of May 13, 2011 the world lost a wonderful man unexpectedly to natural causes. Leroy Haluptzok, age 60, was born on May 6, 1951 to John and Eva (Erickson) Haluptzok. He was the sixth of eleven children and was always proud of the fact that he was right in the middle. He grew up in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Dad was a charismatic and charming man who always had lots of friends. Everyone who met him, liked him. He had such a calming way about him and a beautiful aura. He was extremely loyal to the ones he loved. If you were a friend of his, he would protect you and be there for you always. Dad loved being a grandpa. He was a loving grandfather to his five grandchildren who will miss him so much. They meant the world to him and he meant everything to them. He always asked them – Hey! Who loves you? You do grandpa, and you made sure to always tell all of us how much you loved us. Words cannot express the gaping hole that he has left in our hearts. He was the patriarch of our family and we all looked to him for encouragement and guidance. Anyone that met our dad learned something from him. He loved to tell jokes and he worried about his family; always telling us to be careful. Dad, you left us far too soon. Leroy was the longtime owner of John's Black Dirt and his legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren. He will be so missed by all who knew and loved him. Leroy is preceded in death by his father, John. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; children, Derek (Tina), Amy (Guido)Wagler, Montana; mother, Eva; grandchildren, Matthew, Kale, Brandon, Nathalie, Isabelle; eight brothers, Bill, Richard, Harry, Gregg, Jerry, Warren, Jeff, John; two sisters, Shirley and Jan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday; continuing one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis; as dad always wanted to be buried next to his father, John. Hey Dad! Who loves you? We do. With all our hearts.
