LeRoy Rudquist

LeRoy Bernard Rudquist, 73 of Forest Lake, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 13, 2006. He was born October 13, 1932 in Rush City, MN to Gust and Esther (Peterson) Rudquist. He grew up on the family farm attending the McKay School and Rush City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. LeRoy married Lois Nichols on January 23, 1953. They had five children, Loreli, Lynn, Kim, Douglas and Kathy Jo. He hauled milk in the Rush City area before going to work for the State of MN., first as a corrections officer at Stillwater Prison, transferred to Labor & Industry and served as a Safety Inspector in the Fergus Falls, MN area. He was promoted to Area Supervisor in the Wilmar, MN office. In 1980 he became Assistant Director of OSHA. He was instrumental in developing the AWAIR program. LeRoy was a member of the World Safety Organization. After retiring from the State he worked as a Safety-Loss Control Consultant, helping many companies with their safety programs, and writing their Safety Program. He was also associated with the Maguire Agency of Roseville.

LeRoy was a member of the Fergus Falls Masonic Lodge, Zuhrah Shrine Temple, East Central Shrine Club and the Forest Lake American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alice, great granddaughter, Ella Formo, and his daughter, Lynn Zimmerman. He is survived by his children, Loreli (Brad) Formo, Kim McGrath, Douglas (Deb) Rudquist, Kathy Jo Rudquist, special friend Sharon Ramberg and her family; also 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service 2:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2006 at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5879 Wyoming Trail, Wyoming, MN. Visitation 5-8 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2006 at MATTSON FUNERAL HOME, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral at church on Friday. Interment at Taylor Cemetery in Rush City.
