Lowell Arthur Efterfield, passed away peacefully with family at 4:59 AM on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, at the age of 85.
He was born December 26, 1938, at Stephen Minnesota. He is preceded by his parents, Arthur and Isabel, and his brother, Duane. He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Anthony and Steven; three granddaughters, Krystal (Walter) Woolsey, Paige, and Hanna; three great grandsons, Devan, Collin, Brayden; step-great granddaughter, Aubree; and several nieces & nephews.
Lowell grew up on a farm in Bigwoods Township in Marshall County, Minnesota. He graduated from Oslo High School in 1956. After graduating, he worked various jobs until he joined the Army in 1959. After his service, he attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute for tool cutting and precision grinding, he then worked for Control Data in Minneapolis. In 1963, Lowell married Karen Jorgenson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN. In 1964, Lowell began his career as an insurance agent with American Family and retired 40 years later.
Lowell enjoyed camping, fishing, downhill skiing, reading and sailing the Minnesota lakes and the ocean. He volunteered for many years with the boy scouts, as well as cub scouts, going on hiking and canoe trips with his sons. He enjoyed traveling for many years with friends and family. Lowell passed many of these hobbies onto his family and they still continue the annual summer fishing trips and winter skiing trips even after he quit these activities at the age of 82.
We would like to thank the staff at Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City, MN for taking such good care of Lowell during his last days.
A memorial service will be held at 12 PM, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church, 19001 Jackson St NE, East Bethel, MN 55011. Family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family is directing donations to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel, MN or your preferred charity.
Lowell will be forever remembered for his unselfish love, his quick humor, honesty, and kindness.
He will be missed dearly by all.
