Madison Marie "Maddie" Travers, age 12, of Scandia, Minnesota died peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2015 surrounded by her loving family following a graceful and brave war with Leukemia. Madison Marie was born April 22, 2002 in Maplewood, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Nicole (Bergo) Travers. Maddie lived in Woodbury, Minnesota and attended grade school at Southview through the third grade. The family then moved to Scandia, where she attended Scandia Elementary School. On December 7, 2011 Maddie's life changed forever with the diagnosis of leukemia. She was determined to fight the disease and she did with Amazing Grace. Maddie was a typical little girl, she loved shopping, fashion, sparkle, glitter and BLING! The more the better. She loved going to get her nails done with her mom and always looked forward to the pampering and time spent one on one with Mom.
She also loved sour candy, baking, watching TV, being outside; getting dirty, fishing and most of all swimming at the lake. Recently Maddie was asked what she wanted to do if she could do anything; her response was "go to the lake". Her favorite place in the world was at Grandpa Brad's place, where she could swim in the lake, play on the beach and even ice fish. Beyond being a girly girl, and loving all things Pink, princess and lovely; Madison Marie Travers was a gift from God to her family and those around her. Through her war with cancer, Maddie's polite, kind and loving disposition never faltered. While walking through the darkness, she was the shining light for her family and friends, she was always more concerned about how they were than how she was feeling. She always put everyone first. While many may say life cheated Madison, really no one was cheated, God gave the world a gift for almost thirteen years! A gift that will continue to live on well beyond those years, a gift that once opened showed everyone what life is really about. Life is about being kind and polite; being loving and fun; being FABULOUS; being Madison Marie Travers. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her including her mother, Nikki (Luke) Poynter; father, Joe (Joanne) Travers; siblings, Tommy and Ava Travers; grandparents, Brad Bergo, Kelly (John Engle) Beguelin, Thomas (Linda) Raiolo, Betty (Ken) Heroff; great-grandparents, Dick and Marge Bergo, Corky (Jim) Muckenhirn, Marie Raiolo; devoted uncle, Jon Bergo; many many other family and special friends.
