Margaret Dingman

Margaret Jean Dingman, born July 5, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The oldest daughter of Mable Clara (Baumgartner) and Clifford Torgeson. The family moved to Minnesota shortly after her birth. Jean graduated in 1948 from Henning High School. On June 30, 1962, Jean was married to Donald Dingman. Soon after, they moved to Forest Lake, Minnesota, where they raised their three children, Barbara, Scott, and John. Jean and Don have been members of Faith Lutheran Church since 1963. Jean was active in various church groups and volunteered in the church office at one time. Jean worked in various communities in Minnesota before moving to Forest Lake. She worked as a cook for the Forest Lake School District, did food demonstrations for Rainbow Foods and worked with her daughter, Barbara, at Grapevine Interiors "At Home" in Hudson, Wisconsin. Jean was a member of the Sons of Norway, served as Treasurer of the Forest Lake Chapter of AARP and was an early member of the Forest Lake Pioneers 4H group. Jean loved to travel, exploring approximately 44 states and Canada with Don. She looked forward to visiting her grandchildren, and getting together with family and friends. Jean loved taking pictures, reading, "collecting", and learning in general. She particularly enjoyed educational books and PBS television shows. She also encouraged her children to explore and try new things. Surviving is her husband, Donald, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage; daughter, Barbara (Avery) Dahl; sons, Scott (Cheryl), John (Jackie Johnson); grandchildren, Adam, Emily, Cal, Kami; sister, Ruth Henry and many nieces, nephews and their children.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation 4:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Dr., Forest Lake, and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery.
