Marilee Suzanne (Cohoes) Larkey was born on February 11, 1940 in St Paul, Minnesota to Floyd and Neva Cohoes. She spent most of her childhood living in Forest Lake. During her high school years they purchased a house on the lake. She remained here until 1962 when she got married to Louis Larkey. They lived in Forest Lake before moving to their home in Scandia that she lived in for 45 years. This is where they raised their three boys, Todd, Tim and Brian.
Marilee loved being a mom and family was very important to her. She learned to sew at a young age and made custom drapes for a few years while she raised her kids. She continued sewing up until a couple of years ago. She also learned how to make quilts and made one for each of her grandkids. She also loved to do knitting and made many scarves and other things which she gave away to family. Some other hobbies of hers included gardening and raising many beautiful flowers.
She worked as a legal secretary at different law firms until she retired. During this time Louis and herself did a lot of camping and took many vacations. She loved to travel and was very proud of the fact that they had visited all 50 states. Some of her favorite vacation spot were Alaska, Canadian Rockies and Branson.
Her family grew over the years with the boys getting married and eventually having children of their own. She had seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren which she was very proud of. She loved holidays and getting the families together whenever possible.
After Louis passed away, she moved into a senior apartment in Ham Lake for a few years. As her health declined she moved to Cedar Creek Senior Living in East Bethel. She had many caregivers that helped with her daily needs until she passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
