Marlene M. (Steffen) Chelberg

Marlene Mabel Steffen Chelberg, 87 of Stacy, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday April 28, 2024 at M Health Fairview Lakes Hospital.  

Preceded in death by her parents, Gustave and Irene Steffen; son, Steven Chelberg; grandson, Tyler Chelberg and brother, Earl Steffen.

Marlene was born to Gustave and Irene Steffen on February 4, 1937, and baptized on May 23, 1937, in Bird Island, MN. In 1948 the family moved to Bellingham, MN.  On May 20, 1951, she was confirmed in Christ at Evangelical United Brethren Church Bellingham, MN.  Marlene graduated from Bellingham High School, Class of 1954.   On March 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ronald Raymond Chelberg at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Bellingham, MN.  They moved to the Twin City area where they had jobs and started their family.  In 1973 they moved the family to Stacy, MN where they were both currently living and became active members of St John’s Lutheran Church. Marlene enjoyed many years of bowling for Olson Construction, volunteering at St John’s church. Marlene worked with Rainbow Foods for many years until she retired.  Marlene’s biggest enjoyment was fishing with Ron back in the Bellingham area for many years.   She was a professional when it came to fileting Northerns without any bones!

Survived by husband of 69 years, Ronald Chelberg; children, Linda (Doug) Miller, Debra (Brian) Hoppe, David (Carrie) Chelberg;  grandchildren, BJ (Lindsay) Hoppe, Katrina (Tom) Harris, Jodi (Chuck) Johnson, Paula (Aaron) Lauer, Jeni (Steve) Kuntz, Kassondra (Jake) Anderson, Laura (Justin) Lindner, Crystal (Alex) Johnson; great grandchildren,  Luke, Levi, Mabel, Millie, Margo, Gavin, Kroy, Trevor, Kaylee, Evan, Isaac, Mirabelle, Kylee, Kenadee, Taylor, Teagan, Taesyn, Finley and Aspen; brother, Ray (Pat) Steffen; sister-in-law, Donna Steffen; many other family and friends.   

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Friday, May 3, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 31075 Genesis Avenue, Stacy, Minnesota.  Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment at Stacy Cemetery, Stacy, Minnesota.
