Marlys A. Carlson

Marlys A. Carlson, age 91, of Forest Lake, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2024.

Marlys was a woman of warmth, strength, and humor who touched the lives of many. She found great joy in spending time at her beloved cabin on Lake Vermilion, where she cherished the serenity of nature and countless special moments with family and friends. She and Curtis shared many happy winters together in Marana, Arizona, building a lifetime of memories.

A proud and devoted member of the Forest Lake AA chapter, Marlys inspired others with her strength and commitment. She had a deep love for gardening, and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Marlys had a knack for bringing people together. Whether she was hosting her legendary Christmas parties, sharing laughter with her cherished group of friends over a smoke, or creating traditions that her family will carry forward, her home was always filled with love and laughter.

She is preceded in death by parents, Carl and Ida; husband, Curtis; son, Bob; son-in-law, Bill Blackledge; and siblings.

She is survived by children, Clinton (Jayne), Michael (Susan), Carla Blackledge, Connie (Jeff) Erickson, Kenneth (Kelly); grandchildren, Craig (Kate), Joshua, Tim (Kathy), Melissa (Bob), Christina, Kassandra (Cole), Maranna (Colter), Christopher (Leslie), Justin (Heather), Katrina (Kurt), Jeremy, Curtis (Liza), Reuben (Jen), Charles, Jimmy, Jonathan (Jessica) Blackledge; many great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN. Family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial at Victor Hill Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake.
