Marlys S. Ostrand, age 85, of Scandia, Minnesota died peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  Marlys was an active member of the Scandia community where she served as the Postmaster until her retirement.  Being community focused, she and her late husband Norman, managed the Scandia-Marine Food Shelf for many years.  Marlys was a lifetime member of Elim Lutheran Church.  When she was not serving the community, she enjoyed playing Bridge and being with her family; especially her beloved granddaughters.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Oscar and Hazel (Clementson) Swenson; husband, Norman; daughter, MaryBeth.  She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her including her sons, Peter (Darla), John (Krista); granddaughters, Megan, Nicole, Emily, Natalie; brother, Mark (Judy) Swenson; other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 14107 Hudson Road South, Afton, Minnesota.  Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service at the church. To ensure the safety and health of all in attendance, we will be following the guidelines of Executive Order 20-62.  Please call for additional information if needed.   Private interment at Elim Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to Elim Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
