Marvin Peterson

October 29, 1941 — February 3, 2009

Marvin W. Peterson, age 67 of Forest Lake, died, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Marvin was born October 29, 1941 in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Winston and Ruby (Johnson) Peterson. Marvin was confirmed at Salem Mission Covenant Church in June 1955. He graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1959. Following graduation he attended Augsburg College and St. Cloud State College before returning home to help his father on the farm. Marvin enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. During his service time, he was awarded the expert infantryman’s badge while he was assigned to the 3 rd armored division near Freidberg, Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to work on the farm. He graduated from NW Electronics Institute. Marvin was united in marriage to Sharon Beck on February 19, 1972 at Grace Lutheran Church, Brooklyn Park. Marvin worked for Control Data as an electronic technician for 22 years, then Cub Foods, White Bear Lake for fifteen years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wyoming, Minnesota where he was active in the choir. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents and infant child. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him including his daughter Kristi; siblings, Betty Oberg, twin sister Marilyn (George) Haus, Mark (Sue) Peterson; ex-wife Sharon Peterson; nieces and nephews, Cindy Barham, Jeanne Noreen, Naomi Haus-Roth, Nikolaus Bates-Haus, Stephanie Schorge, Angie Enos, Davis Peterson.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 5879 Wyoming Trail, Wyoming. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
