Mary Lauer, age 91, of Forest Lake, Minnesota passed away on August 27, 2019 surrounded by family. Mary was born to George and Mary Carlson in St. Paul. She was raised as a child in Marine on Saint Croix, MN. She attended grade school in Marine through eighth grade and graduated from Stillwater, MN. After graduating went to work as a switchboard operator for N.W. Bell. She met Clarence Lauer at Bethany Baptist Church in St. Paul. They were married October 8, 1949 at the Lutheran Church in Marine. In her married years she lived in the Minnesota towns of; Grand Rapids, White Bear Lake, Marine on St. Croix, and Forest Lake. Mary was a homemaker and raised their four children. She also was a co-owner of a coffee shop in Marine on St. Croix and a representative of Avon. She was certified as an EMT and a member of the Marine Volunteer Fire Department. Mary organized the Memorial Day Services at the cemetery in Marine. In 1986 she was named citizen of the year in Marine. In every place she lived, Mary and her family were very involved in church. She played the piano, was involved in youth work, taught Sunday school. She enjoyed the traveling she did with Clarence during their retirement. Mary loved having people to coffee or going out to lunch. Thank you to St. Croix Hospice. She is preceded in death by son, James Patrick Lauer; granddaughter, Becky Okerstrom. Survived by loving husband, Clarence of 69 years and their children; Mary Clare (Mike) Okerstrom, John (Nancy), Sue (Jim) Hendrickson; daughter in law, Dyann Lauer; 3 grandchildren; MariKay (Dan) Mell, Louie Lauer, Chris Lauer; 4 great grandchildren; Justin (Sheyanne), Maribecca, Danielle, Michael-Lee. Celebration of her life 11 AM, Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Immanuel Church of Forest Lake, 9511 W. Broadway. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Interment at Stanchfield Baptist Cemetery, Stanchfield, MN. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the church.
