Melba Sahlin

Melba Sahlin, age 84, of Chisago City, on May 17. Survived by brothers Joseph and LeRoy (Helen), sister-in-law Hazel and a very large extended family. Preceded in death by parents Evear and Lillie Sahlin, sister Eleanore Glyer (Leonard), brothers Martin (Thelma), Sherman (Florence), Russell (Eleanor), Carl (Muriel), and Chester (Hazel). Melba worked for the Forest Lake School District for 38 years. She was a great cook, famous for her cake and homemade bread. Legally blind for the past 16 years, she managed to keep house, sew and enjoy her favorite mystery stories by means of an optical magnifier. Melba's family thanks Bea and Myron Zaruba, Jim Noll and Noreen McGuire for their friendship and extraordinary kindnesses and commends the staff at Parmly for their compassionate care. The family will greet friends one hour before the service and refreshments will be served before the interment at Scandinavian Cemetery. No flowers, please. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
