Michael Harnetty

Michael C. Harnetty, age 70, of Scandia passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 19, 2015 at 12:30 pm. Michael was born to Clarence and Jeannette Harnetty in Zanesville, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University and earned a degree in Agriculture Science. He first worked at Monsanto Corporation where he met Monique, the mother of his three boys. During his career, he became Managing Director of 3M Venezuela and eventually promoted to Division Vice President of the Protective Materials Division until retirement in 2003.
Mike has served on the Scandia Town Board. He has been a past President of the Scandia-Marine Lions Club, enhancing an annual scholarship program. He was on the Board of Directors for the Forest Lake Sportsmen's Club, member of the Knights of Columbus and on the Parish Council at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mike was an avid fisherman, hunter, and motorcycle enthusiast as well as an outstanding father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his children: Paul (ex-wife, Shellie), John (Renee), and Patrick (Stacey); 9 grandchildren; Connor, Alexander, Jakob, Abigail, Samuel, Lauren, Christopher, William and Andrew; loving ex-wife and mother of Michael's children, Monique Harnetty; brother, Bill (Haley), and sisters, Martha (Louie) Newsom and Ellen (Martin) Nash; and committed and loving partner Nancy Vershey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 25, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 25267 Redwing Avenue, Shafer, MN. Family will greet friends from 5-8 pm on Friday, July 24th at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 N. Shore Drive, Forest Lake and will continue one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Scandia-Marine Lions Club Scholarship Fund or the church.
