Mike Amundson

Michael "Mike" Amundson, a true Minnesotan from Scandia, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 37 on July 16, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1987, in Maplewood, Minnesota, to his loving parents, Donald and Dawn Amundson. Growing up in Scandia, he was a proud graduate of Forest Lake High School in the Class of 2005. Working in various trades, including Rosenbauer American and Danielson Brothers Landscaping, Mike was always interested in learning and developing himself. Fond of the great outdoors, Mike had a passion for hunting and fishing. He particularly enjoyed deer, duck, goose, and bear hunting, passing down this love to his family. Taxidermy was another hobby that brought him joy, showcasing his appreciation for nature's beauty in unique ways. In his downtime, he loved experimenting with cooking and trying out new recipes. Known for his easygoing nature and sense of humor, Mike was the type of person who could dish out a joke just as well as he could take one. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, always stepping up when his family needed him.

Mike is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Esther Amundson, Carl and Marilyn Rosty. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him including his parents, Don and Dawn; brother, Andy; nephew, Dylan; beloved four-legged friend, Otis; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until the time of service. A light reception will follow.
