Mildred "Millie" Christensen was born March 20, 1927 in Lismore, formerly of Hopkins, resident of The Villages of North Branch went to join her loving husband, Edwin in Heaven on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the age of 83. A loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nonnie), great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Clara Ehrnst Kemper; husband of 37 years, Edwin; grandson, Adam; sisters, Bernice and Juanita; brothers, William, Raphael, Marvin. She is survived by her children, James (Debra) Christensen, Nisswa; Elaine (Russ) Keehl, Hopkins; Diane Smith, Duluth; Debbie (Jon) Leikvold, Apply Valley; Pam (Steve) Lieder, Wyoming; grandchildren, Amy (Joel) Heikes, Hermantown; Tara (Chris) Smith, Maine; Bryan (Megan) Keehl, Chicago; Sara Christensen, Colorado; Jake Christensen , Nisswa; Michael Christensen, Colorado; Alex, Max, Kyle Lieder, Wyoming; Christine and Anna Leikvold, Apple Valley; great grandchildren, Keegan, Dehli and Aiden Heikes, Hermantown; brother, Orville (MaryAnn) Kemper, Edina; sister, Evelyn Kellen, Lismore. Millie took great pride in her strong, German heritage. She loved her family. She recognized the strengths and gifts of her children and offered support through her unique sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was an expert at Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and a master at crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Her quick wit, smile and laugh will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers at The Villages of North Branch and her wonderful Hospice workers. A Celebration of Millie's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2011 in the Sunrise Hall at The Villages of North Branch, 5379 383rd Street, North Branch. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Sunrise Hall. Private burial will be held on Tuesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
