Myra Boehm Morello died on Sunday, May 12, 2024 while surrounded by her family. Myra was born September 1, 1927 on a farm in Columbus, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Frances Boehm and the granddaughter of pioneers, John and Anna Boehm. Though Myra did not enjoy farming, she was delighted in learning how to cook and clean from her mother. She fondly spoke of memories from her childhood, including Sundays when her dad would move their dining room table and he taught them all how to dance. Because of this, Myra danced her entire life and took many lessons along the way.
When Myra was sixteen years old, she moved to St. Paul and became a secretary. However, never liking the cold Minnesota winters, she took a trip to Texas to visit her brother, who was serving in the Air Force at that time. As fate would have it, Myra met George Morello. They had one date together and he asked her to marry him. Myra was elated and married George at the Laredo Air Force Base in Texas. The couple then moved to Alaska where he was stationed. During their five years living there, they had two children. George was then stationed at an Air Force base in North Carolina. Tragically, George was killed in an automobile accident on Valentine’s Day. Myra was two months pregnant at that time with their third child, so she moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family.
She built a house in Forest Lake and began working at Wired Industries. Myra also worked alongside CPAs as a secretary and even owned a dress shop with her sister-in-law for a few years. Myra was a member of the Church of Saint Peter where she was actively involved with Calvary Cemetery and was the head of the funeral luncheon committee for decades. She loved to garden, sew, read, play cards, play pull tabs, visit the casino, listen to music, dance and travel.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sgt. George J. Morello; grandchildren, Wesley Ford, Jori Ann Magnuson; siblings, Marie (Ira) Miles, Louise (George) Bernier, Gertrude (Fred) Hauble, Muzzy (Cora) Boehm, Doris (Merton) Houle, Helen Judkins, Barnard (Liane) Boehm; longtime devoted friend, Ted Mack.
