Nicholas A. Gordon

December 27, 1991 — December 28, 2022

Linwood Township

Nicholas Anthony Gordon was born on December 27, 1991, in Wood River, Illinois.  He was the son of the late Stephen Gordon Sr. and Alice (L’Hote) Morgenweck of Linwood Township, Minnesota.  He departed this earthly world on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

Nick is survived by his wife, Stephany (Acosta Duran) Gordon of Wyoming, Minnesota and daughter, Ruby Amelia Gordon.  He is also survived by his mother, Alice and stepfather, Kurt Morgenweck; his brothers, Stephen Gordon Jr. of Columbia, Illinois and Zachary Gordon of Stillwater, Minnesota, his grandfather, Dennis Morgenweck of Mora, Minnesota and grandmother, Judy Morgenweck of Mora, Minnesota; his mother-in-law, Judith Duran Oble of Lakeville, Minnesota, his sister-in-law, Judith Kelly (Monroe) and nephews, Aram and Joey and niece, Scarlett along with many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bernard L’Hote and grandmother, Donna L’Hote and grandfather, Edward Gordon Sr. and grandmother, Kay Gordon; brother-in-law, David Acosta Duran.

While in high school, Nick was part of a Christian Hip Hop group called Redeemer Jump Crew.  He loved to write music and perform with his friends.  His stage name was God’s Echo.  He always had a passion for music from Country to Hip Hop to 70’s and 80’s Rock.  His current favorite performer was Jessie Reyez.  Nick also played football for the Hornets and won a championship in his first year on the 4th grade team.

After graduating from Edina High School in Edina, Minnesota, Nick started an interesting work career.  Along the way, he worked a variety of jobs to gain all the knowledge and experience he could as his ultimate goal was to start up his own security company.  He worked at places like Garda as an armored car security driver, at Thillens as a leader in their armored car security division, at Best Security for Minnesota Vikings games at U.S. Bank Stadium, he worked outdoor security for the Super Bowl, with Securitas as private detailed security, with O’Brien and Associates for loss prevention at Menards and as apartment security in Brooklyn Park, door security at discount stores, with the Beefcake Squad as concert security at various venues including The Armory and the Burnsville Animal Control to track down various creatures.

His current position was with Minnesota Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer at Oak Parks Heights maximum security prison in Oak Park Heights, MN. This was by far his favorite career position.  While at Oak Park Heights, he was member of their Honor Guard, Crisis Negotiations Team, Crisis Intervention Team, served as a mentor, performed as a FTO coach and served as a CPR instructor.  He wore many hats and was well respected within each role he took on.  He was a dedicated man that took to any opportunity afforded to him.

Nick prided himself as a man of his word.  Honor, Loyalty and serving as a Protector weren’t just words but a way of life for him.  He loved his family and especially his amazing ten-year-old daughter, Ruby, was absolutely everything to him.  Nick was insistent on exposing Ruby to community service with various groups he belonged to outside of work.  Nick was loved by anyone whoever knew him.  He once had a woman tell him he just reminded her so much of John Candy.  A lovable, honorable and well-respected man was what John and Nick shared and both died way too soon.  Nick was a father, husband, a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin, a friend and will be missed more than any words will describe.  We will always love you!!

God is with you son so now rest in peace forever as we will be with you once again.
