With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of an extraordinary woman, Norma Jeanne Munson, who was born on January 6, 1943, and peacefully departed this world on January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Norma’s life was a testament to her love for family, faith, and adventure. Born and raised on a farm in Ham Lake, Minnesota, with her siblings Harlan, Sonja, and Glenn, she developed a deep connection to animals of all kinds, including dogs, cats, goats, chickens, ducks, and geese. Her love for nature and animals stayed with her throughout her life. Growing up on a farm, she learned the values of hard work and family from an early age.
In 1962, Norma met Dennis on a blind date. They were married in September 1964, and together they shared a love for the outdoors. Camping, biking, and RV trips were among their favorite activities, but family was always the heart of their lives. Norma treasured making memories with her loved ones and creating a warm, welcoming home for all. She spent the majority of her life in Linwood, Minnesota, where she created a home filled with warmth and love, ending her life in her new apartments in Chisago City, surrounded by a peninsula.
Throughout her life, Norma dedicated herself to the care of others as an oncology nurse. Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to her patients provided comfort and hope during some of life's most challenging moments. Beyond her professional life, Norma embodied the true essence of compassion and selflessness. Her nurturing spirit and infectious smile were a constant source of comfort and joy to her family and friends. She was a pillar of strength, a beacon of hope, and a guiding light to all.
Norma’s sense of adventure took her around the world. She visited zoos in many countries, went on safaris in Africa, and marveled at the polar bears and stunning landscapes of Churchill, Manitoba. Her travels were always an extension of her passion for wildlife and the beauty of the world. She was actively involved in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where she participated in numerous activities, including a book club and other community events. Her involvement in the church and community was a testament to her giving nature and her commitment to making the world a better place.
Norma’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She believed in the promise of heaven and took comfort in knowing that she will one day be reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her. In honoring her wishes, her family will celebrate her life with a joyful and hopeful service, knowing she rests in peace. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched. Her memory will forever be a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and endless generosity.
