Randy Becker

Randy Becker, age 65, of Forest Lake, Minnesota died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.  Randy Hjalmer Charles Becker was born August 27, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Harold and Gwendolyn (nee Dahl) Becker.  He graduated from Irondale High School, Class of 1976.  At a young age, Randy began his career, working alongside his family at Becker Bros Flooring.  He was a proud lifelong Union member. 

In the late 1970’s he felt at home at the McDonald Family Ranch in Wyoming where he spent summers working with family and friends. There, he began his love of all things rodeo which included bull riding. It was at a Waconia rodeo he met the love of his life, Barbara Pederson, who was an avid barrel racer and rodeo fan.  The two hit it off after a brief encounter, dated and were married on April 5, 1986 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Mounds View, Minnesota.  They made their home on July Avenue North in Forest Lake where they raised their two children. 

Randy loved the great outdoors!  If a trip involved fishing, hunting and being with his family, he was all in. An incredible amount of laughter and memories were created at Becker’s Resort on Lake Winnibigoshish, and at "The Cabin" at Lake Osakis.  He taught his kids to become great fisher and hunters; they ended up out hunting and fishing their Mom and Dad. 

In September 2022, Randy was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia; which led to a rapid decline in his health.  Each day was spent cherishing the moments with his family and friends and together they held his hand as he took his last breath.  Randy will be forever loved and remembered as an amazing husband, dad and grandpa; always full of life and adventure. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn.  He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Barb; children, Karine (Matt) Finken, Randy (Taylor) Becker Jr.; grandchildren, Ryker Becker, Royal Finken and a grandson on the way (due right around Randy’s birthday); beloved four-legged hunting dogs, Red and Tanner; father, Harold; siblings, William (Kaylynn), Robin, Karen (Larry) Sveiven; other family and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2023 at Elim Lutheran Church 20971 Olinda Trail North, Scandia, Minnesota.  The family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials are preferred to the family which will be designated at a later date.
