Raymond Holmquist

Raymond Harry Holmquist, age 86 of Wyoming/East Bethel, died while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Raymond was born March 18, 1927 in Wyoming, Minnesota to Arthur and Dora (Dahl) Holmquist. Raymond grew up in the Wyoming area where he attended school. On April 21, 1951 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Kable at Cedar United Methodist Church, Cedar, Minnesota. They lived on the farm and had a roadside vegetable stand for ten years. Raymond raised beef cattle in addition to farming. He also worked at Land O' Lakes, Twin City Arsenal and Ball Electronics where he was a maintenance mechanic and supervisor. Raymond enjoyed playing ball, league ball, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling, and farming. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Norman Holmquist, Majorie Fingal, Geneva Hans; son-in-law, Steve Schipper. He will remembered by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dorothy; children, Ronald (Cindy) Holmquist, Donna Schipper, Nancy (Jeff Smith) Holmquist, David (Sheila) Holmquist; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Fingal; other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Monday, March 25, 2013 at Cedar United Methodist Church, 17541 Jefferson Street NE, Cedar. Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at GracePointe Crossing for their wonderful care of Raymond.
