Richard A. Ahlstrom, age 75, of Forest Lake, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Richard was born in Little Falls, Minnesota, the son of Adoph and Marion (Eckman) Ahlstrom. He grew up in Medina, Minnesota. He graduated from Benilde High School, Class of 1963. He went on to further his education at St. Cloud State, graduating in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was hired for the CPA firm, Taylor and McCaskill. During that time, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was stationed overseas and worked in the finance department. Following the war, he returned home and continued to work at Taylor and McCaskill until he was sought out and began working for Andersen Corporation. He remained there until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Judith Gagne in 1984. He was an active member of The Church of Saint Peter, The Calvary Cemetery Crew and American Legion Post 225. In his free time, he loved traveling the United States with his wife. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and any opportunity to cultivate his love for farming as he rode his tractor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Marion (Eckman) Ahlstrom; sister, Frances Hillyer. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 36 years, Judith; sister, Barbara Ahlstrom; extraordinary lifelong friends of both Dick and Judy, Ken and Donna Wielinski; cousins and other dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2021 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. To ensure the safety and health of all in attendance, we will be following the guidelines of Executive Order 21-11. Please call for additional information if needed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday at The Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. PLEASE ENTER THROUGH DOOR #4. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake. Due to COVID restrictions no gathering will be held after Mass.
