Richard Cartier

Richard F. Cartier Jr., age 66 of Castillonnès France; formerly of Lino Lakes, died February 7, 2012 unexpectedly near his home in France. Richard embodied generosity, humor, passion, curiosity, and a 'joie de vivre.' He took to the road at a young age as a truck driver before setting his sights on French and Arabic-speaking parts of Africa where he met his wife. Having spent more than 30 years managing development projects in Africa and Asia, Richard and Jackie raised their daughters to embrace change and discovery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Lucille; niece, Shannon (nee Crohn) Kearney; nephew, Neil Cartier; brother-in-law, Gérard. He is missed by his wife, Jackie; daughters, Cyrille (Sasa) Cartier, Diana (Craig) Cartier; siblings, Joseph (Cheri), Bruce (Theresa), Russell (Diana), Denise (Kearney) Breland, Michael (Penny), Roxann (Kevan) Goulet, Annette Cartier, Nadine (Tim) Bishop; family and friends. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 18th at St. Genevieve Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be directed to the family for either "Room to Read" or to contribute to the education of three daughters of a single Ugandan mother who Richard knew and supported.
