age 58 of Forest Lake, Minnesota passed away peacefully on April 18 at his home in Forest Lake, MN after a two-year battle with melanoma. Survived by Diane (Clark), his best friend and loving wife of 36 years; sons Matthew (Leah Bourgeois) and Anthony and daughter Erin; mother Mary; sisters Jean Gibson, LuCinda Anderson and Lisa Hovar and brother Casey; and much-loved nieces, nephews and in-laws. Preceded in death by father Glen and baby sister Maggie. Rich will be remembered for his eager smile, irresistible puns and amazingly beautiful singing voice. As a real estate broker, he enjoyed almost three decades of helping people find good homes in the Twin Cities. After his family, Rich’s greatest joy was art; he studied painting and ceramics at Briar Cliff University (B.A.) and Notre Dame University (M.F.A.) and devoted much time in recent years to throwing pottery to share with loved ones and sell at art fairs. Rich loved to travel and visit museums with his family, read, play golf, cards and board games, learn about the world and take his “beautiful bride” to the movies.
Memorial Services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21 in Forest Lake at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Dr.; family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until time of service.
