Richard Joseph Dresel
June 6, 1926 - February 6, 2006
Born and raised in North Branch, Minnesota, He moved to Forest Lake in 1947 when he married Ann Hopkins, his wife of 58 years.
Dick was a truck driver for Ruan for 20 years and a snowmobile racer for Sno-Jet factory.
He started his own business, Dresel Trucking, part-time with an orange single axle dump truck and a small tractor loader in the early 1960's.
In the mid 60's he quit Ruan to run his business full time when his sons were old enough to join him. He then moved the business from his home and built a shop and office on the south end of Forest Lake.
The company continued to grow and he formed Dresel Contracting and entered the construction business. In 1986 he purchased Dresel Aggregate of Moose Lake with his children.
He foresaw and was instrumental in the future growth of the Forest Lake area development. He was a stockholder in Forest Lake Development Corporation.
His daily routine included the morning coffee group at a local cafe to discuss the latest local news and developments.
Dick was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and traveler.
He was a member of the Forest Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; son, Michael Richard Dresel; and daughter, Cheryl Ann Vaudrin.
Richard is survived by his children, Sandra (Mike) Johnson, Bruce (Sandy) Dresel, Susan Dresel, Patrick (Sue) Dresel, Robert (Diane) Dresel; 20 grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM, Monday, February 13, 2006, St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation 4:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, February 12, 2006, Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may direct condolences through Mattson Funeral Home.
