Richard Schmitz

Richard A. Schmitz, 66, of Forest Lake, formerly of Pine City, died, Saturday, June 11, 2011. He fought a long courageous battle with cancer and spent his last years working on woodcrafts, making bird houses, wooden crosses, spending time with family and friends and catching up on favorite TV programs for as he put it "watching them do things he will never get to do or go places he will never get to go". He spent his entire life helping out others from the goodness of his heart for whatever their needs were. He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Nellie Ankrum Schmitz; sister Loretta Mae Lundquist; many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his children, David (Robin) Schmitz, Dale (Teresa) Schmitz, Lisa Koopman; nine grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Sharon), Clifford (Diane), Ruby Heller, Shirley (Richard) Gimpl, Annette (Harold Jr.) Morrison, Elizabeth Brzoska; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2011 at North Como Presbyterian Church, 965 Larpenteur Avenue West, Roseville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family.
