Richard "Dick" Stark, age 82, passed away October 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 29, 1941, in western Minnesota, Dick lived the majority of his life in the Forest Lake community. After high school, he served two years in the Army, graduated from the 82nd Airborne Division, and returned home to marry his sweetheart, Janet Rose Marier and raise a family together.

Dick and his late business partner, Jack (John) Palmer, purchased Reub’s Tire Shop in 1971, where he proudly sold and serviced tires for multiple generations of families, farms, & businesses in the Lakes Area for over 50 years.

Through Reub’s, he supported many local institutions including the American Legion, VFW, Masons, and FLHS sports teams. Dick also collaborated with FLHS to create a scholarship for students pursuing trade school education in automotive service or technology.

Even in his passing, Dick chose to help others by participating in the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Anatomy Bequest Program, which supports high quality education for future health professionals and continued advancements in medical care through research.

He is preceded in death by his father, Victor; mother, Irene; sisters, Audrey Angerhofer and Joann Stark.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jan; sons, R. Victor Stark, Russ (Melissa) Stark, Ryan (Katie) Stark; and four grandchildren, Maxwell and Luca (Russ/Melissa), Franklin and Julia (Ryan/Katie); sister, Delores (Don) Carlson; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the Church of St. Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN 55025. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to mass at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. The family also invites you for a special toast (at Dick’s request), at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at American Legion Post 225, 355 W Broadway Ave, Forest Lake, MN 55025.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent directly to the Community Scholarship Foundation https://www.flacsf.org/ and list in memory of Dick Stark.
