Robert Mohr

Robert D. "Papa" Mohr, age 73 of Columbus, died peacefully and went to meet his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 17, 2012 following a brief battle with cancer. Bob was born March 23, 1939 in Harris, Minnesota the son of Robert and Marion (Carlson) Mohr. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bob was a member of the 49ers and the Laborers Union for many years. Over the years, Bob and his wife Genie devoted their time to being foster parents to many children throughout Minnesota. Those children, along with his own will fondly remember him as their Papa! When Bob was not catering to his grandchildren, he could be found riding his lawn tractor. He loved the hours he spent mowing the lawn. He will be forever remembered as a kind, gentle man, who could honestly say he never had an enemy. He is greeted in heaven by his parents; granddaughter, Melinda Kristine Gardner; brother, Verlyn Mohr. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him including his beloved wife of 36 years, Genie; children, Sheila Carr, Laura (Mike) Kirkwold, Regina (Dan) Gardner, Lisa Mohr, Angela Roberts, Robyn Owens, Annie (Tim) Forsman, Cory (Shelly) Mohr, Kelly Mohr, Tony Mohr, Jacob Mohr, Holly Mohr; 25 grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; siblings, Bruce (Paulette) Waldhoff, Sharon (Tim) Halpin, Sandee Clay; sister-in-law, Anita Mohr; beloved foster children; his horse, Lakota Johnson; many other family and friends. Funeral Services will held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2012 at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church, 9387 Wyoming Trail, Chisago City, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at 11:45 a.m., Monday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family. Papa, this is not good bye, but see ya later!
