Robert Rank

Robert "Bob" Rank, age 78, died on October 31, 2019.  Preceded in death by first wife, Judy Rank of 40 years. Survived by loving wife, Norma Rank; children, Timothy (Lori) Rank, Susan (Michael) Nelson and Sandra Rank; grandchildren:  Allison (Jeffrey) Miller, Stephanie (Mitchell) Gearhart, Jackie Rank, Jacob Rank and Trista Hammerlund; great grandson, Nicholas Miller; sister, Alice (Peter) Cordella; sister-in-law, Donna (James) Bradbury; loving cat, Sally; many nieces and nephews.  He was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin and raised in Mahtomedi, Minnesota and graduated from Mahtomedi High School.  He married Judy and had three children, one son, and a set of twin girls.   He had 40 years in the grocery business, opened a car wash and detailing business, which he and Judy ran for over 10 years.  He spent most of his life around water.  Tending to boats on White Bear Lake at his uncle’s boat house, then he purchased his first boat, a cabin cruiser, which he used to waterski and take the family camping on the islands on the St Croix River.  He then purchased a cabin on South Center Lake in Lindstrom, Minnesota where the family spent weekends, until he and Judy built their dream home on the lake in 1979.

Bob and Norma enjoyed 11 1/2 years together. Golf, old time dancing, card games and spending time with their families were among the many things they enjoyed together. They were blessed with many wonderful friends including Bob’s best golf buddies. His passion was golf and its many challenges. He had a lifelong interest in history. He was a member of the St. Croix Valley RC Club where he built and flew model airplanes. His other hobbies included woodworking, drawing and painting where he always showed his creative side.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, Nov 14, 4-7 PM at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 N Shore Dr, Forest Lake, Minnesota.
