age 86, of Forest Lake, died suddenly at his home after a long illness on August 13, 2009.
He was born June 5, 1923 in Granada, Nashville Twp., Martin Co., Minnesota. His parents were Walt and Della (Brown) McPhail. He had three older brothers and one younger sister. He was raised in Southern Minnesota; Granada, Truman and Winnebago area.
He married Grace Delores Ladwig on November 30, 1941 when they were both 18 years of age and they have been married over 67 years.
Rollo entered WWII on February 13, 1943 and was a Corporal in the U.S. Army~Air Force. He spent 17 months on the Island of Saipan. He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1945.
Rollo had a variety of occupations over the years, including service station manager for Clark’s Super 100, produce manager, clothing salesman, etc. His main occupation over the years was a car salesman. He worked for several different car dealers in the Forest Lake Area and was well known for his honesty. He had many repeat customers and won many awards because of his honesty and integrity. Rollo retired in 1984.
Rollo, Grace and family lived in different Minnesota towns including St. Paul and White Bear Lake. They moved to Forest Lake in 1956.
He and his family attended Grace Alliance Church faithfully.
He loved his family and loved to tell stories. He had a great smile, a terrific sense of humor and had many lifelong friends. Rollo will be loved and missed forever and we will see him again in Heaven. We have so many wonderful memories of him.
Rollo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Wilbur, Stanley; and grandson Josh Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; children, Jeanette M. (Chuck) Adams of Elk
River, Daniel R. (Sue) of Wyoming, Walter W. (Judy Volk) of Oakdale; grandchildren, Kelly, Mike, Josh, Sarah, Kari, Jeff, Jill; great grandchildren, Cullen, Coby, Calaghan, Landin, Kieran, Josephine, Brooklyn; and sister Donna Marie Merchant.

Avenue SW, Forest Lake. Gathering of Family and Friends one hour prior to service at church. Interment in Oak Park Cemetery, Forest Lake. Memorials are preferred to the family.
