Ronald Fredericksen
December 11, 1933 — July 1, 2009
Passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born December 11, 1933 in Morris, Minnesota to Harold E. and Mildred (Degendorfer) Fredericksen. He graduated from Morris High School in 1951, served in the US Navy from 1951 until 1954. He received his tool and die training in Chicago. Ronald married Arleen V. Malberg on July 9, 1966 in Minneapolis. He was a tool and die maker, worked in Chicago, at job shops in Minneapolis, and at American National Can Co. in St. Paul from 1970 to 1995. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many days hunting deer, pheasants, ducks and geese. He had a talent for trap shooting and enjoyed improving his skills. He also made many fishing trips to out state Minnesota, Lake of the Woods and Canada, besides fishing on Comfort Lake where he resides. Other hobbies of his were woodworking, he designed and built many pieces of furniture as well as knife handles. Ron also enjoyed helping working at the church doing odds and ends repair jobs with the other men at church and going to exercise classes in town. He was an avid reader and loved history and current events.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marion and Dora; brothers, Harold Jr. and Walter; brothers-in-law, Frank Alson, Bill Butler and John Moore. He is survived by his wife Arleen; daughters, Vonna Kay Olson (special friend Keith Dinse), Vicki Lee (Jason) Shawd; grandchildren, Kiana & Evan Shawd, Mallory & Adam Olson and their father Jeff Olson; siblings, Hazel Butler, Eloise Moore, John (Meg) Fredericksen; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Betty & Allan Johnson; aunts, Gwen Rulli, Evelyn Erickson; several nieces, nephews and cousin.
Funeral Service 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1790 11th Street SE, Forest Lake. Visitation 4-8 p.m., Monday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service Tuesday at church. Interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
