Shelia A. Proulx, age 69 of Columbus, left this world peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2017 following a determined yet graceful fight with cancer. Shelia was born March 7, 1948 in Asheville, North Carolina, (in the beautiful Smokey Mountains) the daughter of Willis and Margaret Rogers. She was united in marriage to Lee Proulx on June 26, 1968 in Chisago City, Minnesota. Shelia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed every opportunity to be together with her family. In 1976, Shelia and Lee built their home in Columbus Township and remain there today. Married just shy of 49 years, Shelia and Lee enjoyed "yondering". They would "yonder" here and there and everywhere their journey took them, no particular destination in mind, just happy to be together and see where they ended up. ---It was with her adored Uncle "Pappy Jack" and Aunt Jan that they would spend time in the Bristol, VA area yondering together. She was a beautiful and kind person who enjoyed singing and had a beautiful voice. She could be heard singing around the house and at many a family campfire. She was like an encyclopedia of song lyrics. You could mention a portion of a song and she could tell you every verse and sing along in tune. She will be remembered as the absolute best ghost story teller. She would leave you at the edge of your seat from the words "On a dark, dark, dark night" to "the end". She loved painting and drawing and gifting those works to friends and family to hang in their homes. Above all it was the love of her family and friends that gave her the determination, strength and grace to fight the fierest battle with cancer for the past six years. It was that love that helped her on her most difficult of days and that same love she felt while surrounded by each one of them as she took her last breath. Shelia was a gracious friend to all she met and left an impression not easily forgotten. In fact her oncologist referred to her as his favorite patient of all time. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Margaret Rogers; granddaughter, Hailee LaMeyer. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Lee; loving daughters, Heather (Mike) Abrahamson, Heidi (Chad) LaMeyer, Leah (Brian) Funkhouser; grandchildren, Marcus (Lindsey) LaMeyer, Justin LaMeyer, Miranda (Jake) Abrahamson, Brandon Abrahamson, Zachary Funkhouser; fur grandbabies, Bailey, Zoe, Maia, Nova, Franklin, Piper; siblings, Pat (Randy) Rehbein, Judy (Mike) Little; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017 at Wyoming United Methodist Church 5459 Viking Blvd., Wyoming.
