Shirley Ahlm

Shirley Delores Ahlm, age 93, Scandia, died Sunday, December 22, 2013. Shirley was born to Carl and Hazel Holm on October 20, 1920 in Scandia, Minnesota. She attended Goose Lake Elementary School and graduated from Osceola High School. Shirley married Wallace Ahlm on April 7, 1946. She attended business school and worked as the secretary/treasurer at the Scandia Mercantile and as a bookkeeper at Production Aids in Scandia and later in Wyoming. She had many interests including Minnesota sports, knitting and crocheting, playing bridge, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Shirley and Wallace enjoyed both square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was a life-long member of Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia where she donated many hours of her time. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace Ahlm and brother, Stanley Holm. She is survived by her five children, Bonnie (Brian) Jemelka, Doniver (Jean) Ahlm, Renee (Bill) Waddell, Peggy (Randy) Swenson and Jeff (Theresa) Ahlm. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucia Holm. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail North, Scandia. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Elim Lutheran Cemetery.
