Steven George Wells, age 73, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, died peacefully while surrounded by his loving family and devoted care team on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Steve was born July 27, 1949 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Clayton and Grace (Hansen) Wells. He graduated from Alexandria High School, Class of 1967 with his high school sweetheart, Gail Newhouse. Following high school, Steve studied computer programming at Alexandria Tech School. Steve and Gail were united in marriage on May 24, 1969, they made their home in West Saint Paul, Minnesota. His work transferred him to Mason City, Iowa where they lived for just under a year before returning to Minnesota. Steve and Gail moved to Lino Lakes, Minnesota in 1977 where they built a new home and remained there for 29 years. Their final move brought them to Forest Lake.
Steve worked in IT for his career. He owned and operated Brown Computer Services for many years and later transferred to CMS. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed a round of golf, fishing, wood carving and playing pinball. Steve was an extremely fun-loving man. He was famous for saying “wouldn’t it be fun”…… Many of his “wouldn’t it be fun” phrases turned into reality. From demolition derby racing, to fantastic travels to parties with “more the merrier”, Steve was always the life of the party and people were drawn to his personality. He loved Halloween, a cold glass of Killkenny beer; wearing goofy hats and his famous lederhosen.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Gail; children, Missy Kreutter, Tina (Tony) DeMars, Mike (Stacy Jo) Wells; grandchildren, Andy Kreutter, Jimmy Kreutter, Maddie DeMars, Mason DeMars; siblings, Bonnie Wells, Gordon (Kate) Wells, Joyce (Anton) Wells-Hume, Joey (Laurie) Wells; many nieces, nephews and a gajillion friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
