Terrence Oren Thomson was born on September 11, 1951, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Jim and Ruth Thomson. One of seven children, Terry grew up alongside his beloved brothers and sisters: Jamie, Kel, Jan, Marcus, Nora, and Jack. From the time he was a child, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and these became his passions in life. At the age of 12, Terry moved with the family to Cloquet, Minnesota, where he met the girl who would become the love of his life. Before her recent passing, Terry and Cheryl had been married 52 years. Aside from hunting and fishing, Terry’s greatest joys were his family. He is survived by his son, Judd Alexander Thomson, his daughter, Tiffany Terese Thomson Karns and her husband Joel, his granddaughters, Kelsey Anne and Caroline Terese, and his great-grandson, Bekam Zane. He loved and had special relationships with his numerous nieces and nephews, and also those very close friends who were family to him. If someone was close to Terry at any point, then he was sure to let them know how he felt about them, and what they meant to them. The memories held in that cabin in Canada tell a story of friendships that held the strongest of bonds. He also developed close friendships throughout his career, many of which extended far beyond his retirement. The world is a better place because Terrence Thomson was in it, and his memory will live on in the telling of his stories, the cooking of his recipes, and the laughter in celebrating his life. Terry left this world and rejoined his wife on Thursday, January 18, 2024, but his memory will warm our hearts forever.
