Thomas was born May 25, 1913 to Henry and Anne Murray Ersfeld, he was baptized at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville, MN. The family moved to Forest Lake in 1915, where Henry bought Ersfeld Meat Market, which Tom took over upon Henry?s retirement. Tom was active in the alumni association of the College of St. Thomas. A WWII veteran, he served as a chief pharmacist mate in the South Pacific. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 225, VFW, Knights of Columbus, Thomas J. Gibbons Council. He was an active member of St. Peter?s Catholic Church, Forest Lake, MN.
He is preceded in death by parents, Henry and Anne; brother Dr. Murray P. Ersfeld. Survived by wife Lucille Houle Ersfeld; sons, Thomas and Joseph; daughters, Annette Hegler, Mary Keilty, Sister Jean Ersfeld SSND, Kathleen Robinson, Rita Norton; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday and 9:00-10:00 a.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Allina Homecaring and Hospice 1055 Westgate Drive Suite 100, St. Paul, MN 55114. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Comforts of Home - Hugo, for the kindness and care shown to Thomas.
