Thorwald Nelson

Thorwald R. Nelson, age 88, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Lauderdale, Scandia and Edina went home to meet his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Thorwald honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Bronze Star along with other service medals for action in the South Pacific. He was proud to have faithfully served His Lord at Rose Hill Alliance Church and Grace Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Victoria; his wife Jane; brothers, Jerry and Gordon. He will be dearly missed by his devoted sons, Mike (Kathy) Nelson, Randy (Nancy) Nelson; grandchildren, Derek (Stacy) Nelson, Danielle (JR) Werbick, Darin (Connie) Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Matthew Nelson; great granddaughters, Samantha, Raya, Meghan, Nikolina, Elayna; nieces and a nephew and friends.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Grace Church, 9301 Eden Prairie Road , Eden Prairie . The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. He will be interred during a private family service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Missions at Grace Church.
