Vivian Westermeier

April 9, 1921 — January 14, 2010

passed away in her sleep at Parmly LifePointes January 14, 2010. She is survived by her son Franz E. "Rusty" Westermeier and her daughter-in-law Floy Westermeier of Glenwood, Iowa; two step-grandsons Don Westberry of Jacksonville, Florida and Dave Westberry of Wahoo, Nebraska; one step-great-granddaughter Ashley Westberry of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Franz X. Westermeier; brother Creighton Vinton and sister Shirley O?Leary. Vivian and her late husband were residents of St. Louis Park for more than 20 years before making their home in Scandia, Minnesota. Vivian was born April 9, 1921 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was active in the Scandia Community, volunteering with the Friends of the Marine Library, the Scandia Civic Club, leading exercise classes at Scandia Community Center, and was well known for her selfless hospitality. Vivian will be remembered as well for her faithful years of service as an election judge for the City of Scandia. She was a lifelong member of the church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25267 Redwing Avenue, Franconia Twp./Shafer. Her family will greet friends from 10 AM until the time of Mass. She will be laid to rest with her husband of nearly 66 years at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A committal service will take place at 2:15 Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Altar Restoration Fund.
