Post, Walter A.Loving Dad & Grandpa1909-2003age 93 on 4/5/03. Founding member of Columbus Senior Citizens Center. Preceded in death by wife Minnie, 2 brothers, and granddaughter Minna.Dearly missed by son Douglas (Arlie), daughter Dorcus (James) Speilbauer, Riverside, IA., 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and their families.Was married on March 19, 1939 in Henderson, KY where Minnie was a nurse. Walter farmed for many years in Mendota Heights and also worked as a Machinist/Pipefitter/Mechanic for different companies. Long time active member of Trinity Lone Oak Church until he retired and moved to Forest Lake in 1972. He joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was an active member of the choir for many years. At the age of 73 he bicycled solo from Seattle back to Forest Lake. At the age of 80 He and Grandson Donald biked from Forest Lake to Seattle. He participated in the MS-150 five times when he was in his late 70's and 80's. The last time was at age 87 when he did the MS-60/30 and raised about $4000.00 for the cause. He figures he biked about 26,000 miles since he retired. In 1992 he was Columbus Township Citizen of the year. Funeral Service Friday 1PM at Good Shepherd Church, 1 Shepherd Court, Circle Pines. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Visitation Thursday 5-8PM at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, and also one hour before service at church Friday.Mattson Funeral Home651-464-3556
