Hallberg, Warren Calvin

of Forest Lake
died, October 25, 2006 at his home. Warren was born December 9, 1923 in Constance, MN, the son of Oscar and Selma Hallberg. He was a 1942 graduate of Forest Lake High School. Following high school Warren enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1943 and obtained the rank of 2nd Lt. He logged over 1000 hours as a pilot on C-47 transport planes during WWII and was discharged in 1946. Warren received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of MN in 1950. He first worked for McQuay Inc. as a sale representative. His career in engineering began with Richard Evans, Consulting Engineer which later became Michaud, Cooley, Hallberg, Erickson & Assoc, Inc. In 1979, he started Warren C. Hallberg and Assoc Inc. which was acquired by one of his sons in 1985. Throughout his career Mr. Hallberg specialized in the engineering of mechanical systems within K-12 schools in MN. Warren was active in the Boy Scouts as an Assistant Scout Master for many years. He was a member of the Forest Lake School Board, Planning Commission and Past Commander of the American Legion. Warren was also a long time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Warren is remembered for the love held in his heart for his family and for the joy he betook in the stories and laughter which were always in abundance whenever the family gathered. Throughout his life, Warren always had the courage to stand by his convictions, being an active participant in his faith and civic communities.
He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Selma Hallberg; grandchildren Sarah Hallberg, John Kruse; brothers, Arnold, Melbourne, Clinton; sister Gladys Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley; daughters, Barb (Joe) Kruse, Mary Ann (Dan) Henke; sons, Dick (Vicky) Doug, Joe (Pam), Tom (Marianne); grandchildren, Chris, Mike, Lisa, Emily, Madeleine, Rachelle, Carl, Ben, Paul, Joe, Mark, Jay, Brian, Clare, Joey; sister Evelyn Martinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Monday, October 30, 2006 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 2:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, continuing 9:00-10:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake.
Memorials are preferred to St. Peter's Catholic School Endowment.
