Wayne E. Anderson, 78 of East Bethel, died Monday morning, November 13, 2006 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a 7 year battle with cancer.
Wayne E. Anderson was born October 24, 1928 in East Bethel, Minnesota, the son of Joe and Ellen (Strandberg) Anderson. He grew up on a farm in East Bethel and attended a single room school there. He was united in marriage to Lorraine A. Edstrom on July 16, 1949, the couple made their home in East Bethel where he was self-employed as the Pure Oil Distributor. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. Wayne was very active in the community, he was a founding member of the East Bethel Fire Department and the Cedar- East Bethel Lions, he served on the St. Francis School Board for twelve years, was the mayor of East Bethel for eight years, he assisted with site selection for the Anoka Ramsey Community College, he had platted and developed land over the years in the area. He served on the church counsel and was instrumental in completing the cross and bell tower at the new Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Wayne wintered in Texas, loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of East Bethel; son, Joe (Mary) Anderson of North Branch; two daughters, Jerrilyn Anderson of Blaine and Dona Bettinger of Stanchfield;
5 grandchildren, Chris (Jenn), Jamie (Brian), Matt, Jared, Jenny; 3 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Cameron, Brenna; his sister, Ardelle Olsen of East Bethel and many relatives and friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Virgil
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2006 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 19001 Jackson Street NE, East Bethel, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 pm, Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Our Saviour's. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Friday. Burial will be in Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery in Ham Lake. Memorials may be made to the Our Saviour's Old Church Fund, Cedar-East Bethel Lions or the American Cancer Society.
