Willard Martin Bluhm was born February 1, 1927 in Matawah, Minnesota the son of Martin J. and Dorothy H. (Young) Bluhm. Bill attended school in Waldorf, Minnesota. Following his schooling he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country during WWII. After the war he returned home and married Dorothy Deubler. They were united in marriage on May 14, 1947, (which was the fishing opener) at the country Lutheran church near Wells, Minnesota. To this union five children were born.
Bill's working career spanned through many different industries beginning with Wilson Packing Plant as a salesman and ending as a truck driver.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman from a young age. Some of his fondest memories included pheasant hunting with his father and brothers and fishing on his pontoon on Forest Lake. In his retirement, Bill spent many hours on the pontoon with his family and friends. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Bill was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 4210.
Preceded in death by parents Martin J. and Dorthy H. (Young) Bluhm; grandson Sean Bluhm; sister Cleone.
Survived by his beloved wife Dorothy; children, Joyce (Jim) Hoium, Linda Opdahl, Vernon (Carol) Bluhm, Roger (Julie) Bluhm, Darla (Tony) Daher; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Clinton, Gary, John, Larry, Karen, Claudette; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation 11:00 until the time of service at the church. Interment at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2007 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery AA #5.
