William A. Abler

William A. Abler (Bill or Tater), age 52, of North Branch passed away on January 4, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends.  Bill was a devoted father, coach, partner and friend. He was known for his big heart, strong will and passion for helping anyone and everyone. There was no project, craft or recipe Bill could not do.  He spent his days playing guitar, singing, cooking, fishing, riding motorcycles, gardening and coaching gymnastics. Some say he was “the jack of all trades”. His passion for making not just a good athlete, but good people, is shown in all the gymnasts he coached. 

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Abler; cousin, Dave Davenport, and dog, Hanna.

Bill is survived by his fiancée, Jennifer Pate; mother of his daughters, Julie Abler; daughters, Samantha (Jacob) Roubal, Eva (Chris) Abler, Catherine Abler; son, Tyler Darwin; brothers, Tim (Stephanie) and Brian (JoEllen) Abler; father, Bill (Eileen) Abler; nieces and nephew, Theresa (Harry) Abler, Sadie (Chris) Abler, Nathan (Samantha) Abler, Kayla (Shooter) Abler; dogs, Betty, Rascal and Janie and many other family and friends who will miss him deeply.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Tailgaters Sports Bar and Grill, 6355 Elm Street, North Branch, Minnesota. Light refreshments will be served. Bill’s family asks that you attend in your favorite purple, Vikings jerseys or other sports jersey.
