Yvonne Johnson

Yvonne M. Johnson, age 77 of North Oaks, Minnesota, died peacefully on December 9, 2013 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Yvonne was born August 23, 1936 in Saint Paul, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Vera (Lundt) Nuebel. She was raised in the Rice and University area of Saint Paul, where she attended Mechanic Arts. Following graduating in 1953, she went to Augusta College in South Dakota. After one year she returned to meet and marry the love of her life Gordon "Bud" Johnson on November 30, 1956. They settled on the Eastside of St. Paul for 16 years. While there she volunteered at Planned Parenthood, which spiked her interest in nursing. She went to LPN school while raising four girls. She started working at an ob-gyn office in St. Paul. In 1972 they left St. Paul and moved to Wyoming, Minnesota. Her love for her work convinced her to continue her education to get her RN degree. She moved on to the Care Center in Chisago City and from there she picked up the position of Executive Director of Whispering Pines in Forest Lake and Valkommen Apartments in Lindstrom, Minnesota until her retirement in 2012. When she had spare time she enjoyed working her "fun" job at is what is now known as Macy's. Yvonne enjoyed shopping, collecting, feeding wildlife, traveling, a stop at White Castle and above all her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Vera (Lundt) Nuebel; husband Gordon "Bud" in 2010; sister, Jean Pedersen; brother, Edward Nuebel; brother-in-law, Robert Pedersen. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Jean (Kevin) Lindstrand, Janet Holcombe, Julie (Mike) Thoemke, Kristy (Robert) Knobloch; eight grandchildren, Kristen (Travis) Nelson, Kathryn (Adam) Clark, Erik Lindstrand, Ethan Thoemke, Bryce Thoemke, Nadine Thoemke, Jack Knobloch, Tony Knobloch; one great grandson, Jens Nelson; sister-in-law, Sally Nuebel; nine nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Kozlak's Royal Oak Restaurant (lower level), 4785 Hodgson Road, Shoreview. The family will greet friends one hour prior.
